Alejandro Goyen Fros, Product Manager at Google Inc., San Francisco Bay Area

Alejandro Goyen specializes in software development and technology management. He began his career as a hobbyist C/C++ and machine language (Motorola 680x0) programmer. At age 19, he landed his first job, where he designed and developed an intrusion detection system for Uruguay's Electronic Stock Exchange.

Prior to his work as Program Manager in the Windows Client team at Microsoft (2001-2005), Alejandro founded AGF Consulting Group (1998-2001), an independent consulting firm that provided software development and project outsourcing services to the public and private sector of Uruguay. AGF designed, developed, and deployed software for the financial sector, and provided software consulting services to leading companies including Bank Boston, BEVSA, Internet startups (including Interactive Networks Inc.), and several government agencies. AGF's mission-critical software, certified by Bank Boston and Visa International, are still in production today, running 24/7. In the past Alejandro worked closely with the software development community, particularly during his time as Microsoft MSDN Regional Director for Uruguay, Paraguay, and Bolivia (1999-2000).

While participating in a student exchange program in the US (1997), Alejandro worked as Software Design Engineer intern at Microsoft's headquarters in Redmond. Alejandro holds a Computer Science Engineering degree from Universidad Catolica del Uruguay (Class of 2001), where he authored his thesis entitled "Problems and Solutions in the implementation of Extreme Programming (XP)". Alejandro represented Microsoft at XP Universe for two consecutive years (2003-2004) and is the creator/moderator of the XP Spanish Yahoo Discussion Group.

Alejandro is a graduate of the Harvard Business School (MBA'07). During the summer of 2006, he interned at McKinsey & Company, where he helped develop the 3-5 year strategic plan for a leading utility company in Latin America. In July 2007, he joined Google's Partner Solutions Organization, a partner-facing technology group that develops solutions and builds enduring relationships with Google's top strategic partners.
